Every now and then a trend comes around that has you raising your eyebrows and thinking ‘Really?’. For me that was the ‘Under The Sea’ trend, first bought to our attention in the Spring Summer shows last year. As soon as I read the words I could almost hear The Little Mermaid soundtrack playing in my mind. Since when has it been fashionable to look like you spent the last few hours submerged under water?

But when pictures from the shows start to emerge I was pleasantly surprised, instead of the models looking like drowned rats in seaweedesque dresses the look as a whole was fun, young and pretty. The trick is to channel the look subtlety an ocean blue skirt here, a coral like clutch there, a few splashes of pastels. To really nail the trend make sure you aim for ‘Lady-like-elegance’ and before you know it you’ve taken to the trend like a…well….fish to water.
